👶 ❤️ Every life is precious, and every heartbeat carries hope. When we first received the devastating news about our baby at just 18 weeks—severe congenital heart disease, a high probability of mental developmental challenges, and the likelihood of passing at birth—our hearts shattered. The weight of such an impossible decision loomed over us, but with heavy hearts, we initially felt there was no choice but to end our baby’s life to prevent further suffering.
In the depths of our grief, we searched for ways to find solace and meaning and chanced upon OOSS prayer services on spiritual liberation of infant spirit. That moment was life-changing. We realized that our baby’s journey did not end with the decision we thought we had to make. Her karma, her spirit, and her purpose stretched far beyond what we could comprehend. The fear of leaving her to face this alone in the other realm haunted us. But then, in our most desperate moment, we found guidance.
We were blessed with a private consultation with Master Zhang Bu Sheng. Amidst his demanding schedule, he graciously took the time to listen, to guide, and ultimately, to awaken us to a light we had not seen before. With his wisdom, we were introduced to sacred teachings and blessings—Buddhist hall tablets, Puja tablets, Goddess of Childbirth Lamps, Feng Shui, repentance activities, sutra chanting—all dedicated to healing our baby’s heart. Our friends at OOSS became a pillar of faith and encouragement, reminding us that miracles do happen.
Against all odds, we pursued a Fetal Heart Intervention in a final effort to increase our baby’s chances of survival. Yet, the procedure came with formidable challenges—her position was unfavorable, diminishing our hopes once more. In that moment, we turned to Master Zhang and the Goddess of Childbirth for blessings. And then, beyond expectation, beyond science, and beyond logic, it happened. The doctors completed the procedure, and on the ultrasound, they saw what they never imagined: our baby’s left heart ventricle, previously underdeveloped, was growing back. A miracle.
Shifu, we thank you with all our hearts for stopping us from making the decision we would have regretted forever. Gratitude to the divine! We have witnessed a miracle, and we now dedicate our remaining months to clearing our baby’s karma, embracing faith, and gaining blessings with the support of OOSS.
Our baby has a fighting chance, and as a family, we will fight with her. May she be healthy, strong, and surrounded by boundless love. We humbly ask that you keep her in your prayers as we continue this extraordinary journey together.

A Leading Singapore Hospital Proactively Refers Patient to Ho Chi Minh City for Life-Saving Fetal Heart Intervention
On May 28, fetal intervention specialists from Từ Dũ Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with pediatric cardiology experts from Children’s Hospital 1, successfully performed a fetal cardiac catheterization on a 22-week-old fetus with a complex congenital heart defect. The expectant mother is a Singaporean citizen.
The fetus was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore, with a high risk of intrauterine death.
The diagnosis was a rare condition known as aortic atresia — a type of congenital heart defect in which the aortic valve is completely closed. After detecting this condition, the doctors in Singapore assessed the fetus as having a high risk of dying in the womb. Recognizing recent medical advances in Ho Chi Minh City, they proactively referred the patient to Vietnam for treatment, as this technique is not yet available in Singapore.
Upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, the mother underwent further evaluation at Children’s Hospital 1, which confirmed the diagnosis previously made in Singapore. Specialists from both Từ Dũ Hospital and Children’s Hospital 1 then held a remote multidisciplinary consultation with top international experts from Australia and France. All parties agreed on the diagnosis and emphasized the urgent need for intervention to save the fetus.
This was the ninth fetal heart intervention performed in Ho Chi Minh City, but it was considered the most challenging due to the fetus’s young gestational age (22 weeks) and low weight (600 grams), as well as the severity of the condition. The first intervention attempt on May 22 was unsuccessful due to the fetal position, despite two hours of effort. However, after thorough preparation and close interdisciplinary coordination, the second attempt on May 28 was successfully carried out.
The moment when blood was seen flowing again through the aortic valve on fetal echocardiography was profoundly moving for the entire team. Both the mother and her family were overcome with emotion and shed tears of relief and joy. It was a deeply human moment and a powerful affirmation of the advanced capabilities of Ho Chi Minh City’s medical professionals.
This case marks a significant milestone — not only because a top Singapore hospital referred the patient to Vietnam, but also because it reflects growing regional recognition of Vietnam’s expertise in fetal medicine. It represents confidence in Vietnam’s technical capabilities and the maturity of its fetal intervention field.

This success is the result of strategic investment and close coordination among multiple specialties, including obstetrics, pediatric cardiology, neonatal anesthesiology, and diagnostic imaging — all within two of Ho Chi Minh City’s leading hospitals.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health acknowledged and praised the dedicated efforts of the doctors, technicians, and nurses from Từ Dũ Hospital and Children’s Hospital 1. Their tireless commitment and mastery of advanced fetal cardiac intervention have given hope and life to the most fragile of patients — babies still in the womb.
