Five Sacred Ancestral Prayers

The memorial hall will hold Four Surnames Ancestral Offering ceremony during the five major festivals: Qing Ming, Duan Wu, Zhong Yuan, Chong Yang, & Dong Zhi. During these periods, you can perform ancestral worship and set up memorial tablets for your ancestors!

Eternal Ancestral Worship

You can erect a long-term tablet for your ancestors in this memorial hall. We provide eight offerings daily & sutras for spiritual liberation are played 24/7 in the prayer hall!

The Three Yang Souls and Seven Yin Souls of the Human Body

Heavenly Soul (胎光Tai Guang) – Returns to Heaven

After death, the Tai Guang (Heavenly Soul) returns to the realm of the North Star, guided by the Big Dipper, and ascends back to Heaven.

Earthly Soul (爽灵 Shuang Ling) – Liberation through Rituals

The Shuang Ling (Earthly Soul) is the part of the soul that, after death, must report to the King of the Underworld (Yama) and undergo the cycle of rebirth.

Human Soul (幽精 You Jing) – Ancestral Tablet & Ashes

The You Jing (Human Soul) remains attached to the deceased’s bones or ashes as a “corpse-guarding ghost”. It guards the remains until the next reincarnation.

If, in a future life, the individual cultivates spiritual energy, then like a magnet attracting iron, this soul can merge into their aura, becoming a point of enlightened light. At that point, the bones and ashes lose their significance. Otherwise, the You Jing lingers near the remains, existing in a parallel space.

This is why, beyond standard ancestral worship, the offerings at the Ancestral Hall primarily focus on honoring the You Jing of the departed. They can receive incense offerings, listen to sutra recitations, engage in cultivation, and in turn, transmit positive energy to their next incarnation. This practice also offers them a shelter, so they do not wander, suffer from hunger and cold, or remain without refuge. Where once they were tied solely to bones and ashes, now they have a better place to continue their path of cultivation.

The Concept of “You Jing” (幽精) Encompasses Two Entities:

“You” (幽) and “Jing” (精)

“Jing” (精) possesses divine mobility and is referred to as the Ancestral Spirit. “You” (幽), however, remains bound to the bones or relic bones, which is why we visit gravesites to pay respects—this is the origin of Qing Ming Tomb Sweeping.

Ideally, we should establish Ancestral Tablets in our homes and offer 24-hour offerings every day and every month to honor our own ancestral spirits, the ancestral spirits of our ancestors, and of the departed souls. This is considered essential practice. However, many people today lack the means to maintain such practices at home. They cannot set up Ancestral Tablets or perform regular worship. This is why we established the Eternal Ancestral Memorial Hall

In the past, ancestral halls were created based on individual surnames. But in today’s global village, we open our doors to all who share karmic affinity. The Eternal Ancestral Memorial Hall allows people of all surnames to establish ancestral tablets and other tablets for their ancestors and the departed, offering the You Jing a sacred place to receive offerings, listen to sutras, and cultivate spiritually.

Three Great Merits of Establishing an Ancestral Hall

1. Honoring Ancestors
By offering righteous rituals and incense to past generations, we ensure our ancestors in the other world are clothed, nourished, and at peace.

2. Seeking Ancestral Blessings
When ancestors dwell in comfort, they naturally bestow blessings such as health, prosperity, and success, upon their descendants.

3. Cultivating Virtue
Through worship in the ancestral hall, we nurture filial piety and gratitude in ourselves and future generations. This unbroken chain of reverence ensures the eternal continuity of ancestral veneration.

Why This Ancestral Memorial Hall Is Unique and Sacred

  1. The consecrated space allows the departed souls to cultivate and enhance their energy levels. Their progress may even influence their reincarnated selves, helping to raise their spiritual rank and destiny in the reincarnated life.
  2. Four Surnames Ancestral Offering — Releasing Family Karma! Modern genetic science confirms that our DNA carries ancestral imprints from both parents. Through the Four Surnames Ancestral Offering, we release the karmic black spots embedded in our lineage—purifying the negative imprints from our parents and ancestors. We invite all ancestors to this hall to clear karmic debts, lighten descendants’ burdens, and accelerate their path to enlightenment!
  3. Dedicated attendants provide daily incense, food, and the Eight Offerings, including water, flowers, incense, lamps, and vegetarian offerings, ensuring continuous ancestral nourishment.
  4. Our stringent master-disciple transmission system ensures perpetual operation and uninterrupted ancestral worship across generations—with no expiration.
  5. For those engaged in spiritual practice, a profound resonance can be achieved with one’s ancestors. When a single karmic black spot in ancestral DNA transforms into light, it releases mountain-sized karmic burdens for descendants. Even a small virtuous act by ancestors can manifest as immense blessings, bringing practitioners limitless benefits.
  6. Free vegetarian food will be provided for the ancestors during the annual five ancestral prayers & the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
  7. Filial descendants may participate in a banquet at a discounted rate to honor their ancestors further with Tao Seat or Virtue Zone & pray for their blessings.

Setting Up Ancestral Tablets

At the Eternal Ancestral Hall, you may enshrine tablets for your lineage ancestors. Here, they can listen to sacred sutras and cultivate spiritual practice, gaining the opportunity for rebirth in the Pure Land or even ultimate liberation, and be forever freed from the cycle of suffering. This is how we, as descendants, fulfill true filial piety.

When ancestors gather here with unified power, they will bless and support us and our future generations, ensuring auspiciousness, prosperity, success through adversity, and smooth success in all matters!

Upon establishing a tablet in the hall, we prepare three identical copies:

  • One remains enshrined in the hall for daily worship.
  • One is given to the family to take home.
  • One is kept in reserve for use during the Five Ancestral Prayers.

🔆 FAQ

👩‍🎓Is there a difference between the zones? If one currently has insufficient merit blessings, can one upgrade to Zone A later on?
👨‍🏫 Yes, there are differences — mainly in the level of spiritual honor. The higher the zone, the greater the respect and blessings received by the ancestors.

If you currently don’t have the conditions, you may choose to upgrade their placement in the future as your own merits accumulate.

👩‍🎓 I’m a foreigner and my ancestors are not in Singapore. Can I still perform ancestral worship in Singapore?
👨‍🏫 Yes, absolutely. Each person has Three Souls: the Heavenly Soul, Earthly Soul, and Human Soul. The Human Soul is given to us by our parents in this lifetime. After death, the Human Soul does not enter the cycle of rebirth—instead, it becomes a corpse-guarding spirit, remaining with the body or ashes. This Human Soul is what we refer to as the ancestral spirit, and it resides in the ancestral tablet as the You Jing.

The You part of the You Jing cannot move freely—it is heavy and belongs to the netherworld realm. Therefore, it lingers near the physical remains, such as bones or ashes.

However, the Jing part of the You Jing possesses divine mobility. It has the ability to travel freely. Even if your ancestors are not physically in Singapore, or even if most of them migrated from other countries, that’s not a problem. As long as you offer proper ancestral worship here, the Jing soul can instantly arrive, unhindered by time or space. Once the offering is complete, it immediately returns to its place of origin. This is the profound working of the Jing soul within the You Jing.

👩‍🎓 If I only have the means to establish one tablet, which should be set up first?
👨‍🏫 Start with the “Four Surnames’ Ancestors”. When conditions allow, you may add the tablets for “Past Seven Lifetimes of Parents” and “Extended Ancestral Lineage”

Our consciousness carries two primordial seeds – one bestowed by our present-life parents and another inherited from our parents from the past seven generations. The essential purpose of ancestral worship is to fully activate these primordial seeds within your energy field, to manifest their complete range of vibrational frequency along with their inherent wisdom and power, and ultimately to empower your current incarnation with greater glory and radiance.

Through sacred rituals, we accomplish several profound transformations: we liberate the karmic creditors connected to our parents from the past seven generations, our present-life parents and nine-generation ancestors, as well as those tied to our own spirit. These practices work to transform the negative karmic “dark spots” within our DNA into radiant “luminous spots” while simultaneously amplifying and honoring our positive karma by converting it into luminous spots as well. This process represents the true understanding and practical application of life’s deepest truth.

👩‍🎓 What are the types of tablets that can be set up in the Ancestral Memorial Hall?
👨‍🏫

1. Four Surnames’ Ancestors

2. Husband’s Parents

3. Wife’s Parents

4. Parents from the Past Seven Lifetimes and Their Ancestors

5. Married Couple or Individual

6. Siblings

7. Children  8. Pets

👩‍🎓What is the Living Dedication Tablet (Fu Lu Shou Tablet)?
👨‍🏫 A Living Dedication Tablet is established for someone who is still alive. Through offerings of incense and food, it helps generate blessings for the honored individual. This nourishes the spiritual consciousness, maintains an unbroken connection with the ancestral lineage, and allows mutual support. While still alive, such offerings also nurture the inner system of spirit, soul, and essence, enabling communication with beings across the Six Realms of existence.

This practice establishes a seamless connection between your divine consciousness and your ancestors. You can actively support your ancestors while receiving their blessings in return. Rather than being negatively affected by the deceased, we gain their ongoing protection and guidance.

👩‍🎓 What’s the difference between the Red Blessings Tablet in the Buddhist Shrine and the Fu Lu Shou Tablet in the Ancestral Hall?
👨‍🏫 The Red Tablet in the Buddhist Shrine invokes the blessings and empowerment of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from the Higher Realms.

The Fu Lu Shou Tablet in the Ancestral Memorial Hall draws blessings through offerings made to one’s guardian deities, helping to increase one’s fortune, longevity, and well-being.

👩‍🎓 If someone who had a Fortune–Longevity–Blessings Tablet (Fu Lu Shou Tablet) passes away, can their spirit still return to the ancestral shrine to receive the offerings?
👨‍🏫 Yes, they can. All filial descendants are welcomed to establish memorial tablets for ancestors as a token of gratitude for their blessings.

👩‍🎓 How Should Ashes Be Properly Placed or Handled?
👨‍🏫 If a person has not attained spiritual liberation, their body and ashes still carry residual spiritual light, known as Ling Guang. In Buddhist teachings, only when this light is fully gathered can one achieve complete liberation.

This is why traditional Chinese culture emphasizes proper burial. Ideally, ashes should be buried in the earth. If that’s not possible, placing them in a basement level is acceptable. At the very least, they should be respectfully housed in a columbarium niche.

Modern practices like sea or tree burials may seem convenient or symbolic, but they ignore deeper spiritual realities and are strongly discouraged.

Testimonials

Deepest Gratitude to the Eternal Ancestral Hall

Today, while reviewing the ancestral tablets prepared for me, I discovered one belonging to my sister who passed away over 50 years ago. I had never met her — she died just 40 days after birth — but seeing her name moved me to tears.

Back then, my parents believed that not setting a tombstone would help her reincarnate sooner. We even forgot where she was buried. For years, I’ve felt a quiet sorrow and regret. A Taoist master once told me that a long-departed relative was still lingering near our home, and was requesting for me to make daily offerings, and to do so continuously for one complete year. It made me realise that our relatives who have passed on are always around us, just that we are unable to see them.

Now, thanks to the Eternal Memorial Hall, my sister finally has a place to return to, and I, as her sister, have the chance to do something meaningful for her.

I’m deeply grateful to our teacher for creating this sacred space — and for guiding us with compassion and true Dharma.

I am a Catholic

Why Did I Set Up an Ancestral Tablet? Perhaps this question arises because of my faith. As a Catholic, I believe in purgatory — a place where souls are purified before entering heaven. That’s why we pray for the departed at every Mass, trusting that our prayers can help free their souls.

When I heard about the Eternal Ancestral Memorial Tablet, I felt strongly compelled to act. First, because prayers for the deceased are deeply aligned with my faith. Second, unlike Catholic churches here in Malaysia, this offers a 24/7 memorial space for continuous blessings. Third, I trust Master Zhang’s spiritual system and abilities — something I wouldn’t say about just anyone.

Does this contradict my faith? Not at all. That’s like asking, “Does driving a Honda make me less Malaysian?”

I remain a proud Catholic — and a devoted student of Master Zhang.

Two Dreams

After my friend set up ancestral tablets at OOSS Eternal Ancestral Hall for her two late, unmarried siblings, she had two extraordinary dreams.

In the first dream (Oct 22nd, 2018), her deceased brother rolled three organs on the table into a ball and swallowed it. She said, “His organs have returned.” He had undergone organ removal before his passing.

When we asked our Venerable Master, he explained:

“This is an auspicious dream. Without physical organs, the soul’s energy fields become scattered, and karmic information is incomplete, affecting future rebirth. This dream shows that the tablet at OOSS helped restore his energetic wholeness. OOSS Ancestral Hall is not just about memorial —it’s a sacred cultivation site for the dead. This case proves it!”

In the second dream (Jan.25th, 2019), she saw her sister walking into a glowing booth that looked like a phone box. When asked if she was well, she said nothing and entered the white light.

Venerable Master revealed: “That’s a holographic time-space tunnel—a passage for souls to transcend.”

These two dreams deeply affirmed our belief: OOSS Eternal Ancestral Memorial Hall is where souls find healing, completeness, and their path forward.

I am deeply grateful to our Venerable Master for establishing this sanctuary for the people of Singapore.

Brother Neo

In 2018, I established ancestral tablets for the four surnames, the parents of past seven lifetimes. I also set up a blessing tablet for my parents and us. In 2024, my father suddenly felt dizzy and fell while out. Thankfully, a kind stranger helped him home safely. Though only mildly injured, his condition worried me deeply.

Upon advice from an OOSS fellow student, I used the Terahertz Lightwave Device blessed by Master Zhang Bu Sheng to dispel negative energy. My father continued to experience fever and he was admitted under the Home Hospitalization Scheme. While doctors and nurses provided comprehensive care at home, I intensified karmic purification through repentance, offerings of joss paper, lighting of blessing lamps, and prayed for blessings to seek forgiveness from karmic creditors. Guided by the compassionate blessings of the spiritual masters, my father recovered in just nine days, with all medical expenses fully covered by Singapore’s Ministry of Health.

In 2025, another minor setback required my father to undergo hospital examinations. Reporting to my revered master, he made arrangements in the spiritual realm and assured us there was nothing to worry about. We established red and yellow tablets in the Buddhist Hall to reduce our karmic obstacles and performed offerings for Guan Yin’s sacred birthday to accumulate virtue. Amazingly, after four days in the hospital, all tests returned to normal, and he was discharged safely—this time with all costs fully covered by our insurance company!

I am deeply grateful to the compassionate blessings of my esteemed master, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the monthly OOSS prayer services that cleared massive obstacles, the divine protection of the celestial beings, and the manifestation of our ancestors. Their blessings continue to guide our family through challenges. We will continue to strive to become a prime sponsor of these Dharma assemblies, wholeheartedly dedicating merits to the greater realms.
