Both this Life and the Afterlife to Illuminate
2,500 years ago during the Spring and Autumn period, wise men used the ancient timekeeper instrument tugui to determine winter solstice. And of the 24 solar terms, winter solstice was the first to be established. On this day, we pay respects to the gods and our ancestors by offering new clothes, food and various sacrifices.
As the Yang energy rises from the ground during the Winter Solstice period, our ancestors’ souls residing underground can make use of this special time and space. By engaging in puja rituals and through the dedication of merits, we can facilitate the increase of Yang energy within our ancestors to enhance their well-beings and even help liberate those who are in the lower three realms and to take rebirth to higher dimensions where they are free from all kinds of sufferings.

1. Nine-Day Ancestral Prayer Ceremony: Garner Strong Support From Ancestors
We offer Dharma transmission in addition to the food and drinks during the prayer. The ancestors of the past generations are invited to the ashram to practice and gain blessings from all sages.

6. Gratitude Offerings to Tai Sui （1 Lamp, Joss Papers, Prayer Letter）
Tai Sui (known as Grand Duke Jupiter) is the prime deity in a particular year, also known as “The son of heaven in the year”. He holds the most authority and governs a person’s overall luck as an arbitrary force affecting human affairs.
We give thanks to the guardianship of the Tai Sui which has helped us pass through the Xin-Chou Year safely. We are blessed to be exempted from any challenge, conflict, punishment, damage and harm throughout the year. We would like to thank him for his protection in the year and pray for a peaceful and auspicious year ahead.
