During ancient times, the Duanwu Festival, was a special occasion to guide all mankind back to our origin, the place we used to call home– the Radiant Sound Heaven. According to the Aggañña Sutta, mankind did not originate from the Earth, but instead came from the Radiant Sound Heaven.l which is our primordial homeland. The Duanwu Festival was also known as the Homecoming Day.
Homecoming, coming home, but where is our home? It is the land of infinite brilliance and of tranquillity in permanence.
The Duanwu Festival is also known as the Dragon (Naga) Ascending Days, flying back to the Heavens. Then, our forefathers offer sacrifices to Heaven, gods, and to their ancestors. It symbolises the returning of all sentient beings from the Six Realms together to the source, our Source, to the primordial home.
Also, the Duanwu Festival is known as the Transcendental Medicine Festival, a period to dissipate all epidemics and diseases.
Hence, the Duanwu Festival is not merely a Memorial Day of Qu Yuan.
The unique qualities of this current space-time hold immense significance towards our spiritual practice!
We will be utilising this special space and time to make an offering to the divinities during the fifth day of the Duanwu Festival this year. We will also be conducting a spiritual liberation puja and nine-day ancestral prayer ceremony. It is a time for us to keep our hearts in remembrance of our ancestral merits and be grateful for all forthcoming blessings.
Let us pray for the Dharma Realm’s tranquillity and world peace. We rejoice in your merits in participating and contributing to the Dharma world.
